We are looking for Polish participants for a seminar “Active youth – development of potential” that will take place from 1st until 7th of July 2015 in Maddaloni (CE), Italy. The project will involve 28 youth workers who coming from Latvia, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Romania, and Italy.
Within the broad spectrum of lifelong learning youth work has played a vital part.
Its benefits to young people and closeness to their concerns mean that it is a profession often with insufficient public profile. Youth workers have play a central role in assisting the development of participative and democratic models for young people. Their work seeks to promote young people’s personal and social development and enable them to have a voice, influence and place in their communities and society as a whole.
In today’s Europe, youth work is guided and governed by the principles of participation and empowerment, by the values of human rights and democracy and by anti-discrimination and tolerance. It is framed by a range of policies and research knowledge. Youth work is delivered both by volunteers as well as paid workers. Youth work’ is defined in the Council Resolution on a renewed framework for European co-operation in the youth field (2010-2018) as: a broad term covering a large scope of activities of a social, cultural, educational or political nature both by, with and for young people. Exchange between youth workers and young people from different cultures, backgrounds and youth work experiences is important for quality development, for learning and support, for knowledge transfer and for extending opportunities to develop and implement youth work at local and international level.
The overall aim of the seminar is to provide space for youth workers as professional and voluntary based from European Union countries to share their realities, challenges and good practices as youth workers and define who can make youth work.
